With IR, a pilot may fly under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) – a flight solely by reference to instruments. Apart from PPL and CPL training, IR requires additional knowledge on instrument procedures and meteorology.

Pre-entry requirements:

• Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

To obtain a license:

• Pre-entry requirements

• Completed Instrument Rating (IR) ground schooling

• IR flight training in simulator and actual aircraft

• Pass written and practical exam from CAAP
